What we are:
Data and Taxonomy is the science of classification in regards to data. "A Taxonomy is a formal data model that classifies, categorizes, and arranges data systematically, typically to facilitate data retrieval. The discipline is concerned with metadata (data about data) and the relationships between data entities." (Data and taxonomy) Dataxonomy serves 3 purposes. First, it allows better organization of the data. Second, it allows better retrieval of the data and lastly, it allows better understanding of the data. Data taxonomy provides a map for any company that wishes to build a data warehouse to better organize the data. It allows companies to better understand the data they have and where they might find.
Taxonomy includes terms such as hierarchical structures, some of which can be classified as trees or graphs. Taxonomy can also be classified by the level of detail, which can be classified as descriptive, analytical, and/or conceptual. Asking the Right Questions One of the most important components of DaTaxonomy is questioning. The types of questions that should be asked in order to properly categorize data includes: what are you trying to accomplish, what data are relevant, and what perspectives are relevant.
A Key To Creating Robust Data Analysis Every data analyst, data scientist, or business manager has a stake in the quality of his/her data. Structured data and unstructured data are easy to understand. But how do these two types of data compare in the pursuit of robust data analysis? Structured data is defined as information that is in a standard format. It is typically entered into a spreadsheet or some other type of database. This type of data is usually data that has been collected and then passed on for analysis. Unstructured data, on the other hand, is data that is not in a structured format. In other words, unstructured data usually doesn't end up in your reporting and analysis.
